activision puts pressure on sony for a price drop on the ps3!!

This is from c-net comments are on red:

Apparently, it's not just CNET readers but game developers who are among those demanding Sony cut the price of the $400 PS3. In an interview with the London Times, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has some strong advice for Sony and threatened to pull its support for the console.
"They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates (the number of games each console owner buys) are likely to slow," Kotick said. "If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony." As for the timing on that, he adds: "When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console--(see? i told you) and the PSP (portable) too." (noooo..not the psp!!)
For its part, Sony, keeps saying it won't be pressured into trimming the price of the PS3 (...yeah right...n64 dejavu anyone??).

But with industry heavyweights like Activision making these types of remarks, it's becoming more and more clear that the pressure is indeed on.
Should Sony hurry up and wilt under the heat? Or should it stick to its game plan, whatever it is?

As a former consumate gamer, i must say that this reminds me of the N64 days with nintendo's reluctance to evolve... as for me, i don't own a ps3, and with rumors like these, i won't buy one until the price drops to a reasonable, down to earth and current economy, price.

In what i would call a TRUE company that listens, Auctiva has changed their confusing pricing structure to what everybody was talking about : a FLAT MONTHLY FEE OF $9.95/mo that includes ALL the features and an ocasional seller plan of $2.95/mo that includes 15 listings per month.
In a letter sent by Auctiva's ceo Jeff Schlicht , He says: " First of all, I would like to start out by saying that as Auctiva's founder and CEO, I am very sorry and humbly apologize for any frustration and anxiety we caused you to experience about the future of your business over the past week and a half. I know that these recent events have greatly upset our community and I take full responsibility for that. I am asking you to give me a chance to make it right"
Then explains the reason for the change: " I thought our customers would like to have the choice of picking a tailored plan based on usage. Clearly, I was wrong."
What is clear is that Auctiva's Ceo HAS listened to his customers, and now is steering the solutions giant in much clearer waters.
If only all companies could follow his example....hey Auctiva, what about an AUCTIONS SITE NEXT???..I think its time someone knocked out Ebay out of the top ...but hey that's just me..
Pick your plan now! auctiva will remain free only throughout june 30th, if you don't they will put you in the free plan, with the option to change it at any time.

and here is the reply from Stephanie from auctiva, about the new pricing structure

This was sent to me from Stephanie from auctiva today:
Hi Hunter:

You asked, "Why not provide a plan for a flat monthly fee?" The answer is simple. We have a very large user base, many of whom would pay less than say, a $10 per month flat fee, by using our current pricing structure. Our goals have always been, and will continue to be to provide a selling tool geared towards all size sellers and we believe that our structure helps make Auctiva an affordable solution.

This was definitely a difficult decision for us to make and we worked hard to devise a pricing structure that would be fair to all size sellers. We currently have two plans that have no transaction fees at all. Additionally, we have a $4.95 cap per month on transaction fees for those plans which do carry a charge.

I understand the confusion and frustration of our customers. This is a big change, and with all change, it presents its own share of challenges. We want to make this transition as trouble-free as we can. For our current customers who have the last 60 - 90 days of eBay sales data stored with Auctiva, we've calculated their average usage and once they log into, the pricing tab will provide the most cost-efficient plan for them. Additionally, for those who don't have existing data available, we created the Pricing Calculator to assist with the plan-selection process. And finally, we do have a top-notch customer service team available to provide one-on-one assistance when choosing a plan as well as answer any remaining questions.

The pricing information is a lot to digest. I think it's important for our customers to take a step back and really review their selling practice and evaluate the plans we have available. As I mentioned previously, when the correct plan is selected, many customers will only pay a few dollars per month to continue to utilize the powerful selling tools and fundamental management features.

I hope this provides clarification.

Thank you,

Thank you Stephanie for the clarification, i'm sure the readers appreciate it!

Reply to Stephanie from Auctiva

Hello Stephanie, thank you for reading my blog, first of all i want you to know that I always supported auctiva, and will continue to support it (I'm a member of the auctiva commerce stores and don't plan to leave anytime soon) what i wanted to point in the past thread, is that the pricing tier is confusing for most members,if only you could shed some light on those transaction fees, i know that my readers will appreciate it.

Why not charge a flat rate monthly fee? you already have the customers, they already know the potential, the tools, the system, the value that auctiva gives to the selling community...don't lose them!

Now as I said I don't plan to leave, I don't sell on ebay, I used to, thats why I know how helpful auctiva was for me, but i have several friends who are now on crossroads about what to choose and i tell you firsthand, that they would rather stay on auctiva than to switch, but only as a flat rate service or if they could understand the pricing.

auctiva is no longer free!! ..alternate sites

As of July of 2009 Auctiva will stop being free! those who know me are aware of the support i have given the site since i joined when i was a greedbay seller. Ebay has eliminated a substantial amount of the revenue Auctiva used to get from their affiliates program (vengeance for auctiva commerce? maybe!) i personally have a hands on experience on how vindictive greedbay can be, but let's leave speculation out of the picture.

Now the fee structure created by Auctiva is sincerely: A COMPLETE MESS! the worst part being the transaction fees, among other charges. with some fees reaching $34 (that's without the transaction fees) With all of the associated Ebay and Paypal fees sellers already have, they will be cutting a substantial amount of profits from those poor ebay sellers ..

The solution: CHARGE A FLAT MONTHLY FEE! period. Auctiva has calculated that only 20% of their current affiliates will leave the site...guess what auctiva: its going to be even more than that!...a rocky road lies ahead for my friends in Chico Ca..

Well but not everything is bad news, i have made some research and here is a list of much better sites, most of them charging beetween 10 to 8 dollars a month , that have unlimited pictures, listing scheduler etc: : This site offers you all the feaures from auctiva for $ 9.95 mo. No commitment, pay as you go cancel anytime. They even have a welcome letter for all auctiva users : this site has monthly, quarterly , and annual subscriptions plan, starting at $8.00 no commitment pay as you go and also a welcome letter for auctiva users

Now for those e-comerce users (like me) there is this site, that unlike auctiva commerce , it charges a monthly fee of $10 or $15 (depending on the plan) and no sales commissions! (hear that auctiva?) plus the 14.99 plan lets you sell digital goods: they are a sister company of inkfrog...very interesting indeed

And as suggested by Helen, here is another alternative: Vendio just launched a special offer for Auctiva customers : FREE for 2009, $10/month for 2010. They are a multichannel platform (meaning it works with not only ebay but amazon, google and more...) and on TOP of that, they have a "robust, full-featured online store" completely free! wow..who knew there were so many alternatives...

Thank you Helen for the info on vendio

Face it people, the days of free auction hosting are gone, but i think is better to pay a flat rate of 10 bucks in average, than to pay extra transaction fees.
I already told Lucia and all of my friends about this, and she will be hosting her auctions on either one of these sites...tough luck auctiva..

transformers revenge of the fallen toys are here!!

Well since its my birthday i treated myself to the full line of transformers revenge of the fallen toys among other things of course: Italian restaurant dinner in south Florida, strippers and whatnot! (hey who says a guy that deals on toys can't get any girls?)

I also thought about my customers and bought all the figures i could and put them in my store, i will be releasing them as we get closer to the release date of the Film. Remember what happened on 2007 after the first one was released...the toys were harder to find than a pimp daddy destro and supplies were low even until December! so don't stay behind and stock up now!

My store carries limited quantities of stock, that's why i can offer you a top notch service. I aim to be a select service offering a personalized online buying experience.

I also have some more new figures added to my store, and from now on the hunter knight customs store will be carrying the masters of the universe classics line! i have big plans for the store, so check regularly!

You know my speed when delivering your items so for any suggestions comments or customer service contact me at

Thank you and keep checking!
